UFC on FOX 13: Latest odds, lines and betting guide for 'Dos Santos vs Miocic' in Phoenix

Out with the old?

One year and two months after his second crushing loss to Cain Velasquez, former Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is out to prove he's still one of the best in the world, taking on rising Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC on FOX 13, which goes down tonight (Sat., Dec. 13, 2014) at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix.

In the FOX co-main event, another former contender returns from a long absence when Nate Diaz faces Rafael dos Anjos in a pivotal Lightweight match up. Stefan Struve will also attempt a comeback from heart issues against the struggling Alistair Overeem.

UFC on FOX 13 is a card that promises a lot of fun action. Let's see if there's a promise of profit, too.

Thoughts: Nine fights and I can’t find a single truly great line. Frustrating. I think the big issue is that many of the under dogs have some facet of their game that makes them risky, but overall lack the skills to be worth betting on. Riggs has shown a willingness to wrestle and Saunders has been ground out before, for example, and Ian Entwistle’s quick-kill submissions make him a liability for anyone despite the rawness of the rest of his game.

I don’t think there’s anyone here worth betting straight-up on. If you want to beef up a parlay, Varner or Brunson may be worth a look based on Varner’s massive skill advantage over Dober and the safeness of Brunson’s game, respectively.

Thoughts: Honestly, not much here, either. When the odds first came up, dos Anjos was sitting at a beautiful -190, but too many got while the getting was good for it to stay that way. I’m waffling over whether Gonzaga is worth a look since Mitrione’s ground game is pretty awful; however, "Napao" has a history of collapsing under pressure and I think I still have egg on my face from when I picked Derrick Lewis to smash "Meathead."

I’m confident in dos Anjos and dos Santos, so if you’re willing to either invest in a multi-fight parlay or accept limited returns, maybe put some dosh down on them.

• Parlay: Jamie Varner, Derek Brunson and Rafael Dos Anjos: Bet $40 to make $48

It may be short on quality gambling opportunities, but it looks like a great card.
