Not only does Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Nate Diaz miss open workouts, he misses weight, too.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 champion came in nearly five pounds over the 155-pound mark (160.6) and was given two hours to shed the excess weight. Diaz, however, opted to have 20-percent of his fight purse taken instead, which will now go to opponent Rafael dos Anjos, according to MMA Junkie.
The good news is, the fight is still a go for the UFC on FOX 13 card, set to pop off tomorrow night (Sat. Dec. 13, 2014) inside the US Airways Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. It will be the first bout for Diaz in over a year, so perhaps his weight cutting skills are a little rusty.
Or maybe he's been missing all his workouts, and not just the media workouts last Wednesday.
We'll see what kind of effect it has on him on fight night, as he takes on a very dangerous Brazilian contender looking to make a statement.
