Nate Diaz explains why he missed UFC on FOX 13 open workouts: 'I kind of slept in'

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Let the man get some shut eye.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Nate Diaz didn't blow off the UFC on FOX 13 open workouts, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 10, 2014) in Phoenix, Arizona, because of some kind of beef with his employer.

He was just tired.

"I didn't realize it was time to be there," Diaz told MMAjunkie.com. "I woke up and they were calling me, and they said, ‘You kinda missed open workouts.' I kind of slept in. I wish I could've made it, but I didn't make it in time. I had a list of things (from the UFC), but I got in late and I woke up this morning and I looked at it."

Diaz is scheduled to face fellow 155-pound standout Rafael dos Anjos on Saturday night's main card (results here) after spending more than a year on the sidelines (because of this).

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans (and pundits) suspected his absence had something to do with recent tweets from Diaz regarding his dissatisfaction with the promotion, specifically its recent "bitch ass" uniform deal with Reebok, but that appears to be a case of getting hacked, according to his recent explanation.

Probably happened while he was sleeping.
