Clay Guida: Potato-picking Conor McGregor is a one-hit wonder who talks too much

Before you dismiss Clay Guida, may I remind you "The Carpenter" holds wins over a UFC lightweight champion (Anthony Pettis), a PRIDE FC lightweight champion (Takanori Gomi), and even a Strikeforce lightweight champion (Josh Thomson).

Top contenders Rafael dos Anjos and Nate Diaz? Yep, he beat them, too.

Whether you like his style or not, Guida (31-15) is a tough out any way you slice it. That's a lesson he hopes to teach featherweight phenom Conor McGregor if and when they ever hook 'em up inside the Octagon, according to his recent conversation with AskMen.com.

"Conor has shown some skill and we can't take that away from him but we haven't seen enough from him to prove that he is legit. I don't care how many millions of fans he has. He is a flash in the pan and you can tell him that - however, I don't know if that Irish potato picker would know what that means, but he's a one hit wonder. If he wants to see what boring is tell him to call me. I've been looking forward to meeting him because I want to hear how ridiculous he really sounds. I don't get flustered by that stuff but I can show him what boring is if he wants to get in the ring with me. He needs to fight real fighters with some pedigree before he starts talking too much."

That could take awhile.

McGregor (16-2) has run through the current crop of 145-pound contenders and looks to do the same against Dennis Siver when they headline the UFC Fight Night 59 event next month in Boston, Massachusetts (more on that here). The only knock on "Notorious" is that he has yet to face a wrestler.

Sounds like Guida is hoping to be the first.
