It looks like the talk of Wayne Barrett being next in line to face the GLORY middleweight champion Artem Levin will have to be put on hold.
Jason Wilnis put on an outstanding performance at GLORY 18 and upset the No. 2-ranked GLORY middleweight, winning by unanimous decision (29-26 x 3).

The opening round started out closely contested, with Wilnis landing a few solid kicks and punches and Barrett catching several of the Dutch fighter's kicks. But Wilnis would take advantage of a big opportunity at the end of the first and drop Barrett with a straight right hand in the corner. Referee Kevin Nix would administer the eight count and Barrett would regain his bearings.
Midway through the second, Wilnis caught the New Yorker again and dropped him in the middle of the ring for the second time after landing another pair of well-placed left hooks. Wilnis would swarm in an attempt to finish him off, but Barrett would survive the round.
In the third frame, Wilnis would be more patient knowing he had the two knockdowns in his pocket and an obvious lead on the judges scorecards. Barrett would come out aggressive to start with some flying knees, but Wilnis would avoid any danger and finish out the round to win the decision.
This upset win over Barrett will surely shake up the middleweight rankings. Wilnis will now jump up a few spots from the No. 9 spot. He improves to 22-4 overall and 2-2 in GLORY. Barrett drops to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in GLORY.
