Jim Hettes vs Diego Brandao added to UFC 183 fight card

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Jim Hettes failed to topple The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 runner-up, Dennis Bermudez, his last time out, getting pounded out in round three at UFC 171 back in March 2014.

"The Kid," however, will get a roundabout opportunity for redemption when he collides with TUF 14 winner, Diego Brandao, in a Featherweight scrap planned for UFC 183, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 31, 2015.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made the announcement earlier this evening on its official website.

Prior to the most recent loss to "The Menace," Hettes -- a Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist -- had won three of his four bouts inside the Octagon. Since 2012, however, he has competed just three times to date and has only defeated Robert Whiteford during that relatively inactive span.

Brandao, meanwhile, is still smarting from an emotional first round technical knockout loss to Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC Fight Night 46, which was a golden opportunity to derail the Irishman's unbelievable hype train. Before the "Notorious" loss, Brandao was on the wrong end of a Dustin Poirier knockout at UFC 168 in Dec. 2013.

UFC 183 features a "super" main event between former Middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, returning from a freak leg break to welcome back Nick Diaz, who has not competed since a unanimous decision loss to retired Welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, back in March 2013.
