Paige VanZant looks to avenge 'fluke' loss to TUF 20 star Tecia Torres

Esther Lin/MMA Fighting

Paige VanZant made a successful Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 57 by defeating Kailin Curran via third-round technical knockout (TKO) in Austin, Texas (recap) on Nov. 22, 2014.

In doing so, not only did she earn an $50,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus, Paige proved she didn't need to take the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) path to prove she belonged to be competing in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

It's not like she had a choice.

Fresh off the thrill of getting her first UFC victory, Paige is ready to prove once again that she has the chops to defeat the best in the world including Tecia Torres, one of the best strawweights in all of women's mixed martial arts (MMA).

Because as "12 Gauge" recently told MMA Junkie, she'd love nothing more than to get back a "fluke" loss she suffered to Tecia at Invicta 4 back in 2013.

"I want to get that loss back; that fight is definitely in the plan. That was a fluke in my fight game. I went in there not ready. I wasn't prepared for that fight. Of course, I took a loss and I'll take that loss and wear it. But I'm very excited to hopefully get a rematch with her and avenge that loss."

Tecia outscored Paige on the judges' scorecards en route to a unanimous decision victory. Speaking of Tecia, she was a contestant on season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) and is still in the running to become the first-ever women's 125-pound UFC champion.

Admitting she's been impressed with plenty of the TUF 20 contestants, VanZant has her eyes set on Tecia, but knows that getting a rematch may be harder to obtain if Torres ends up winning the strap.

As for when she'd like to step foot back inside the Octagon, Paige says she is ready to do it as soon as possible.

"I'm ready to fight again right now. The adrenaline rush you get from going in the cage and fighting is just so amazing. I'm addicted to the adrenaline and I'm ready to fight again right now. That's all I have on my mind is getting back in the gym and getting ready for the next one."

She may only be 20 years of age, but VanZant is proving that she doesn't intend to waste her time inside the eight-walled cage and is looking to get to the top, sooner rather than later.

Having seen the competition that awaits her from the TUF 20 cast, any of you Maniacs expect her to get there?
