He really wants that UFC win.

Longtime Japanese fighting sensation Norifumi Yamamoto will return to the Octagon after nearly three years on the shelf, in a mixed martial arts (MMA) showdown against unheralded regional import Roman Salazar at the upcoming UFC 184: "Weidman vs. Belfort" pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Feb. 28, 2015 inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

UFC announced the bantamweight booking on Wednesday.

Yamamoto (18-6, 1 NC) made his Octagon debut in early 2011, and it has been all downhill ever since. After coming up short against Demetrious Johnson, the 37-year-old "Kid" dropped consecutive bouts to Darren Uyenoyama (unanimous decision) and Vaughan Lee (submission).

It's now or never.

Salazar (9-3) got his feet wet under the ZUFFA banner just last month, when he was promptly choked out by Mitch Gagnon at the UFC Fight Night 54 event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. "El Gallito" cut his teeth on the regional circuit in his native Arizona.

Interesting match up...

UFC 184 features a championship doubleheader in the main- and co-main events, with middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman leading the charge against top-ranked 185-pound contender, Vitor Belfort. Not to be outdone, Ronda Rousey will defend her 135-pound tiara against Cat Zingano in the supporting act.
