This first video preview for UFC Fight Night 59, which takes place inside the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Jan. 18, 2015, should give you a pretty good indication of how the promotion views Conor McGregor in the build up to his FOX Sports 1 main event against Dennis Siver.
It boils down to "God's gift to featherweights" vs. "some guy you probably recognize."
There is a lot on the line for the "Notorious" trash talker, least of which is a 145-pound title shot against reigning division kingpin Jose Aldo -- maybe -- if he can beat the brakes off the mixed martial arts (MMA) "veteran" who like the Irish import, prefers to stand and bang.
And there's that electric co-main event that failed to get mentioned.
McGregor (16-2) is fresh off a first-round shellacking over Dustin Poirier last September in Las Vegas, Nevada, in what was his fourth straight win -- and third finish -- since joining Team ZUFFA in 2013. Siver (22-9), meanwhile, recently took a unanimous decision win over Charles Rosa in Sweden after serving a nine-month drug suspension.
You dig?
