Rickson by armbar? Gracie passes on Metamoris after 'completely losing interest in competition'

Now that jiu-jitsu tournaments have become a big deal again, thanks to the emergence of Metamoris and grappling "super fights" (like this one), fans of the ground game have been wondering if the man, the myth, and the legend -- Rickson Gracie -- would consider jumping into the fray.

Don't hold your breath.

"I don’t see myself competing anymore because I've completely lost interest in competition," Gracie told MMA Fighting. "My injuries wouldn't allow me to perform the way I would like. It’s not something I think about anymore. For those who still have this motivation, I think it’s cool."

Gracie also labeled the Metamoris tournament, like the one that takes place later tonight (Sat., Nov. 22, 2014) in Los Angeles, California, a "progressive idea" by bringing "more dynamic matches with more finishes." But the retired mixed martial arts (MMA) combatant (11-0) appears to be gone for good.
