Bellator 131 drew an average of over 1.8 million viewers on Spike TV last Friday night (Nov. 15, 2014) in Sand Diego, California. And this upcoming Friday night (Nov. 22, 2014), Spike TV will air "Tito vs. Bonnar" once again at 9 p.m. ET in case you missed it.
Or just want to watch it again.
During the main event, during which Tito Ortiz defeated Stephan Bonnar via split decision, the show hit a peak at 2 million viewers, making it the most-watched show in mixed martial arts (MMA) for 2014 to date. In addition, Bellator 131 is now the highest-viewed fight card in the promotion's history.
Perhaps it's because all three fights that led up to the aforementioned main event ended in violent fashion.
In the co-main event, Will Brooks finished former Lightweight champion Michael Chandler by technical knockout in the fourth round to win the vacant 155-pound title. Joe Schilling made a huge statement in his promotional debut, knocking out Melvin Manhoef in the second round. And Mike Richman made quick work of Nam Phan to lead off the night's action, scoring a first-round technical knockout.
Bellator will return to action on Jan. 16, 2015, from Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., headlined by a Featherweight title fight between Patricio "Pitbull" Freire against Daniel Straus.
