UFC 180 results: Ricardo Lamas submits Dennis Bermudez

The road to another featherweight title shot continues thanks to a hard jab and a slick submission follow up.

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Ricardo Lamas' road back to a featherweight title shot started when he won a decision against Hacran Dias earlier this year. It continued tonight (Sat., Nov. 15, 2014) at the UFC 180: "Werdum vs. Hunt" pay-per-view (PPV) at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, Mexico when he took on streaking Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veteran Dennis Bermudez.

Intrigue!

Aggressive offense from Bermudez had Lamas pinning his ears back and firing away counter punches. It was a hard jab straight down the pipe that connected clean and knocked Bermudez down that set up the finish, however.

Once Bermudez felt his ass hit the mat, he ducked under for a takedown. Lamas, seeing an opening with his opponent clearly dazed, locked on a guillotine choke and waited for the tap.

It came, and, just a few minutes into the first round, he was victorious by way of submission.

Keep running on down that road.
