Luke Rockhold staying ready, prepared to fight Chris Weidman if Vitor Belfort fails UFC 184 drug test

Matt King

Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Luke Rockhold recently disposed of venerable gatekeeper Michael Bisping, thanks to a second-round submission at UFC Fight Night 55 (highlights), and looks ready to take another step closer to a 185-pound title shot.

Or simply cut the line, if need be.

Rockhold told UFC Tonight that he's still training and keeping himself on standby in case Vitor Belfort fails his pre-fight drug test and gets bounced from the UFC 184 pay-per-view (PPV) event in just over three months (more on that contest here).

You can call that an official prediction.

While Rockhold was put out to pasture by Belfort in early 2013, the former Strikeforce middleweight champion has since reeled off three straight wins, all of them finishes. One more like that and he won't need "The Phenom" to self destruct, because he will have earned it regardless.

But assuming UFC 184 remains intact, who stands between him and a crack at the crown?
