"A few very nice officers came and spoke to me while I was on suicide watch, made me realize a few things, mostly that I called it quits too early. Never in my life have I been a quitter, and I know that my perseverance is the main quality which makes me appealing to fans ... and I'll be the first to say that I bitched out way too prematurely. I'm sorry to all of my loved ones and supporters, this order has just been hell on me. Everything was going so well and this shit just blindsided me."
-- Facing more than 30 felony charges and life in prison, "War Machine," a.k.a. John Koppenhaver, recently attempted suicide in a Las Vegas, Nevada, county jail. He was unsuccessful. According to a suicide note that was found in his cell (read it here), "War Machine" was overwhelmed by the severity of the charges in connection to the alleged brutal assault of his ex-girlfriend, Christy Mack, and her friend Corey Thomas. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator MMA veteran has compared the situation to a "crime of passion" and a case of self defense. He was supposed to appear in court last month, but his attorney requested to postpone the proceedings to prepare a plea bargain. It was around that time that "War Machine" attempted to end his own life, which he now realizes was not a bright idea (via InTouch). It's unclear at this time what the next legal step will be in the case. Meanwhile, "War Machine" continues to pen jailhouse letters and have them posted on his official Twitter.com account, while Mack continues her recovery.
