Nova Scotia Boxing Authority today issued its list of injuries and medical suspensions for the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who participated at UFC Fight Night 54, which took place last Saturday night (Oct. 4, 2014) inside Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
And there are a few hefty sentences.
Chief among them is Nordine Taleb, who joins Li Jing Liang, Jake Lindsay, Jason Saggo, and Matt Dwyer on the list of six-month sits. The remaining suspensions were fairly light, including the 45-day timeout for Tarec Saffiedine, who got smoked by Rory MacDonald in the main event (watch it).
That's not all.
Here is the full list of UFC Fight Night 54 injuries and medical suspensions (via MMA Junkie):
Rory MacDonald: suspended seven days
Tarec Saffiedine: suspended 45 days for a concussion
Raphael Assuncao: suspended seven days
Bryan Caraway: suspended 30 days for facial lacerations

Elias Theodorou: suspended seven days
Bruno Santos: suspended seven days
Nordine Taleb: suspended 180 days but can be cleared early with further medical examination
Li Jing Liang: suspended 180 days but can be cleared early with further medical examination; needs CAT scan on arms and exam for cut near eye
Jake Lindsay: suspended 180 days but can be cleared early with further medical examination
Paul Felder: suspended nine days
Jason Saggo: suspended 180 days with no contact for 30 days, but can be cleared early with further medical examination and a CAT scan
Chris Kelades: suspended seven days

Albert Tumenov: suspended seven days
Matt Dwyer: suspended 180 days but can be cleared early with further medical examination and a CAT scan
Pedro Munhoz: suspended seven days
Jerrod Sanders: suspended 14 days with no contact for seven days
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
