Guys, I think they really mean it this time.
World Series of Fighting (WSOF) welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares will defend his 170-pound title against fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) castaway Jon Fitch in the headliner of the WSOF 16 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Dec. 13, 2014 at a location to be named.
WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed the pairing to MMA Fighting.
Palhares (16-6) was expected to appear last July, but was forced to bail on his proposed Fitch fight because Mama P. was ailing in Brazil, and "Toquinho" was the only one suitable enough -- or with the means -- to care for her, despite the fact that he has 12 brothers and sisters.
Family first!
When a Jake Shields replacement fight failed to materialize, Fitch (26-6) instead went on to defeat UFC import Dennis Hallman by way of unanimous decision at WSOF 11 in Daytona Beach, Florida, his second straight win following an upset loss to Josh Burkman in June of 2013.
Fitch and his wrestling versus Palhares and his leg locks.
