Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Pitor Hallmann has flunked his UFC Fight Night 51 drug test for the anabolic steroid drostanolone, according to the Brazilian Athletic Commission (via MMA Fighting), following a split-decision loss to Gleison Tibau back on Sept. 13, 2014 on UFC Fight Pass.
"Pletwal" has been suspended for nine months.
In addition, Hallmann (15-3) is likely to lose the $50,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus he earned at the event, as per standard practice by UFC. He will also have to pass a new drug test in order to be re-licensed, assuming the promotion decides to hang onto him after this misstep.
The commission tested all 22 fighters for anabolic steroids, diuretics, and other masking agents, as well as stimulants and cannabinoids. Four combatants were randomly selected to also be tested for erythropoietin (EPO) and levels of human growth hormone (HGH), which is all the rage these days.
Expect those results within the next couple of weeks.
