Why did the entire mixed martial arts (MMA) universe suddenly become interested in the rematch between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes?
Because UFC President Dana White already announced that featherweight needle mover Conor McGregor would be next in line for a 145-pound title shot. In addition, the "Notorious" trash talker will be in attendance and could be sent into the Octagon to give hard looks to the winner.
Imagine an Aldo vs. McGregor staredown in front of an entire arena of rabid Brazilian fans?
Mendes vs. McGregor could be cool, too (not really).
The fireworks are expected to pop off in the main event of the UFC 179 pay-per-view (PPV), which takes place on Sat., Oct. 25, 2014, inside the Maracanãzinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and features a co-main event pitting Glover Teixeira opposite Phil Davis.
