Cat Zingano looks to be ship-shape and ready for her upcoming title shot against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, which is expected to co-headline the UFC 182 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Jan. 3, 2015 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There was some concern that Zingano (9-0) wouldn't be medically cleared to compete, after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) benched her for six months following a "stinger" at UFC 178, the price she paid for a technical knockout win over Amanda Nunes last month in Las Vegas.
From her appearance on Inside MMA:
"I just walked out of the fight kinda adjusting, checking out my body. They asked me how my neck was, I said 'I have a bit of stinger.' They just said 'Go home tonight, we'll put you on a medical suspension and just get it checked out and you'll be fine.' I anticipate everything is going to be okay. It feels good now."
That's certainly good news (unlike this).
Zingano spent the last year and a half riding the pine with a blown knee, following a technical knockout win over Miesha Tate in "Alpha's" Octagon debut. The former Invicta FC star also suffered a terrible personal tragedy, but didn't let either of those setbacks affect her performance against "Lioness."
Next stop? "Rowdy"-town.
