So much for momentum.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight titleholder Andrei Arlovski is back in the official top-10 rankings at 265 pounds, clocking in at No. 7 after disposing of Antonio Silva last month in Brazil. Stepping on "Bigfoot" marked his fourth win in a row.
But don't expect him to jump back into the cage anytime soon, according to Ariel Helwani on UFC Tonight:
"Andrei Arlovski's manager just told me he just got shoulder surgery and will be out six to eight weeks. He's not thinking about his next fight right now."
Bummer.
Arlovski (23-10, 1 NC) was brought back into the ZUFFA fold earlier this year, and despite a putrid showing against Brendan Schaub in Vancouver, showed some of the old form that helped him catch heavyweight gold. Whether or not he can get back to the top of the 265-pound mountain remanins to be seen, but there are plenty of intriguing options in the top five.
Any suggestions?
