TUF 20 results and recap for Aisling Daly vs. Angela Magana (Ep. 6)

FOX Sports

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 was back on FOX Sports 1 last night (Weds., Oct. 29, 2014) as the elimination fights continued on episode six with No. 5-ranked Aisling Daly (Team Pettis) taking on No. 12-ranked Angela Magana (Team Melendez).

We get things started with the gals gameplanning in the house, as Magana wonders aloud if she can score the knockout against Daly. We get some of Angela's back story and it's uh ... pretty fucking grim. Like "My Mom was a crack whore" kind of grim.

Oh, and her fiance died after she broke her back, then she got into a car accident and almost croaked.

Over at the gym, Team Pettis gets some work in and Tecia Torres is still dealing with the awkwardness of switching teams. Coach Pettis is wearing some kind of creepy spandex get-up and there's a little too much on display, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Daly asks him for a day off because she's not feeling well.

It turns out she's having trouble dealing with the Las Vegas heat (she's from Ireland) and then gets interrogated by her strength and conditioning coach, which upsets her because she has a history of depression and anxiety, for which she takes medication.

UFC President Dana White (and his cameras) show up to make sure she's hanging in there.

What a guy!

Coach Melendez is feeling good about his chances in this fight and let's face it, he needs it, having not won squat so far this season. Now it's time for Daly's background and it turns out she's a pioneer in mixed martial arts (MMA), not just for women, but for also for men in her native land.

They get to watch the recent UFC card in Dublin and she gets a special shout out from her team mate.

Awwwwww.

Elimination fight No. 6 -- Aisling Daly (Team Pettis) vs. Angela Magana (Team Melendez):

Round 1: Daly rushes out and they clinch and go to the cage. Magana gets a body-lock takedown then effortlessly moves into side control. Daly gives up her back and she's caught in a rear-naked choke -- but survives. Magana's technique isn't so hot or this fight would be over. Daly sits up but is still in a bad spot. Magana has a painful neck crank but can't seal the deal. Referee apparently hates jiu-jitsu and stands them up. They lock up again and go to the fence. Lots of jockeying for position. Ref yells at them again. Shut up, dude. Daly breaks free and they trade leather in the center of the cage. Magana shoots for a takedown and gets hit with a DDT. Round over. Clear 10-9 for Magana.

Round 2: They come out trading punches and Magana getting lit up. She shoots and gets denied. More punches from Daly. Magana with a headlock and cage grab. Magana shoots but doesn't score. More clinching. Now it's Daly with the takedown but Magana proves difficult to control on the ground. Daly sits on her head. Magana stands up using sheer brute force. Daly jumps on her back and drags her back down. Working from side control she spins for the arm but Magana defends. Ref starts up with his "stay busy" routine. I loathe this guy. Daly locks up the rear-naked choke but runs out of time. Easy 10-9 for Daly.

Round 3: Lots of striking. Daly eats a head kick and they clinch. Up against the fence and Daly pushes her to the floor. Daly sinks the hooks in and tries to soften her up with punches. Magana flattened out eating punches. She appears to be both exhausted and trapped. Magana manages to roll over but her situation is just as dire. Punches coming down from the top pretty hard. Referee warns her to improve. No response. A few more bombs from Daly and it's over.
