Conor McGregor reacts to Jose Aldo win over Chad Mendes: 'My confidence is sky high' after UFC 179

"I believe [Aldo] can be hit but he showed his heart, he showed his will. He showed his frustration at times, as well. He was looking toward the ref and things of that nature. It was a great contest and I have nothing but respect for anyone who goes in there and lays it on the line. I feel if I connect, it will end, and that's the difference between me and these people, but again, a phenomenal contest between two amazing athletes. Nothing but respect. You can't stand like that the way [Aldo] did there. One or two clean shots from me and it is all over. I definitely saw holes in his game, of course. My confidence is sky high looking at that contest."

Sounds like Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contender Conor McGregor had a rip-roaring good time as a special guest at UFC 179, which took place last Saturday night (Oct. 25, 2014) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Despite his "Notorious" trash talk, the quick-witted Irishman had nothing but praise for pay-per-view (PPV) headliners Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes, who left it all in the cage for 25 grueling minutes (replay). But at the same time, McGregor is feeling pretty good about his chances against "Junior," who absorbed a significant amount of damage from "Money" en route to a close unanimous decision win (recap here). Will these two strikers finally get the chance to hook 'em up in 2015? That depends on this, and perhaps even this.
