UFC Fight Night 59: 'McGregor vs. Siver' official for Jan. 18 in Boston on FOX Sports 1

Ireland just shut down!

Don't say we didn't warn you.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contender Conor McGregor, who is currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to taunt the winner of UFC 179, will pass on a featherweight title shot to throw hands against Dennis Siver in the five-round main event of UFC Fight Night 59, now official for the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Jan. 18, 2015.

UFC.com tries to sell you the match up:

Germany's Siver may provide his stiffest test yet though, as the 35-year-old veteran has the fight-stopping power and solid ground attack to beat anyone at 145 pounds. Unbeaten in four of his last five bouts, including a Fight of the Night victory over Charles Rosa on October 4, Siver's UFC record also has seven post-fight bonuses attached to it, setting up what could be the first Fight of the Year candidate for 2015.

Sure, why not.

Tickets for UFC Fight Night 59: "McGregor vs. Siver" go on sale on Thurs., Nov. 20, 2014, and the event is rumored to play host to the 155-pound showdown between Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Myles "Fury" Jury, though that lightweight bangfest is not yet official at this time.
