He's back!
Hot-and-cold Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Erick Silva will make his way back to the Octagon at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 58 event on FOX Sports 1, when he takes on Mike Rhodes at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Dec. 20, 2014.
UFC announced the pairing on Thursday.
Silva (16-5, 1 NC) endured a savage beating at the hands of "Immortal" 170-pound contender Matt Brown back in May. The talented but wildly inconsistent "Indio" has flip-flopped wins and losses dating back to his ZUFFA debut in late 2011, leaving him at just 4-4 under the UFC umbrella.
Can the Brazilian finally win two straight?
Not if Rhodes (6-3) has anything to say about it. "Biggie" has one foot out the door and will undoubtedly be competing with a sense of urgency following consecutive losses to George Sullivan and Robert Whittaker. The outcome is likely to determine his spot on the crowded welterweight roster.
Who ya' got?
UFC Fight Night 58 will be headlined by a middleweight main event pitting former 185-pound title contender Lyoto Machida against streaking division stalwart CB Dollaway, while ex-bantamweight kingpin Renan Barao returns to action against the venerable Mitch Gagnon.
