Daniel Cormier named permanent co-host of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight No. 1 contender, Daniel Cormier, has been named permanent co-host of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1, alongside retired UFC multi-weight contender Kenny Florian.

"DC" talks to FOX Sports:

"I love being a part of UFC on FOX family and extending my mixed martial arts career. The TV analyst role is exciting, fun and actually improves my fighting skills, because I see the action so differently now. I look forward to working with the team each week on UFC Tonight and vow to bring the light heavyweight title belt with me to the desk in January."

Cormier, who replaces the deposed Chael Sonnen, fights Jon Jones for the 205-pound title at UFC 182 in January (more on that here).

In addition to his new position behind the analyst's desk, the Olympian was recently named Team Captain at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) after Jon Fitch left town. But can he lead by example? We'll find out in just a few months.
