Dan Henderson return planned for UFC 182, but in which weight class?

USA TODAY Sports

Dan Henderson, one of the few mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters to be an instant title contender in two different weight classes, is zeroing in on his Octagon return, which could take place at the UFC 182: "Jones vs. Cormier" pay-per-view (PPV) event on Jan. 3, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But at which weight class? "Doesn't matter," Henderson (30-12) told MMA Fighting.

No opponent has been named at this time.

"Hendo" hasn't been seen since Daniel Cormier rag-dolled him en route to a submission defeat at UFC 173 last May. The loss to "DC" was particularly troubling because it marked the fourth in a span of five fights. In addition, the PRIDE legend is now 44 and operating without the benefit of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

Despite winning titles in both PRIDE and Strikeforce, the future hall-of-famer was unable to capture gold under the UFC banner, coming up short against Anderson Silva (middleweight) and Quinton Jackson (light heavyweight), before injury booted him from a Jon Jones fight at the canceled UFC 151.

One last run in 2015? Or has that ship long since sailed?
