Report: Walt Harris returns, fights Soa Palelei at UFC Fight Night 55 with Daniel Omielanczuk hurt

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

Not long after his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) release, Walt Harris will get another crack at the big time when he collides with Soa Palelei at the UFC Fight Night 55 event on Fight Pass, which is slotted for AllPhones Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Nov. 8, 2014.

Combat Press first reported the switcheroo on Sunday.

Harris (7-3) takes over for the injured Daniel Omielanczuk and thanks to a ZUFFA release clause, will likely abandon Dave Herman at the Titan FC event on Nov. 20. That's the same promotion where "The Big Ticket" picked up a rebound win back in May, crushing DJ Linderman in the first round after a pair of goose eggs inside the Octagon.

And he could be looking at a hat trick.

That's because Palelei (21-4) hits like a Mack truck and has three knockout wins since making his UFC return in late 2013. He was last seen going down on points against the rough-and-tumble Jared Rosholt and would undoubtedly like to make a statement in front of his hometown fans.

Who takes it?

UFC Fight Night 55 features a middleweight main event grudge match between top-ranked division contenders -- and recent sworn enemies -- Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold, while former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) guys Ross Pearson and Al Iaquinta hook 'em up in the co-headlining affair.
