After an injury prevented them from meeting up in the Octagon back in August at UFC Fight Night 49, Jordan Mein and Thiago Alves are matched up once again for UFC 183, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 31, 2015.
Alves dropped out of the original fight in August due to injury, as did his replacement Brandon Thatch. Mein was eventually matched against veteran Mike Pyle and won via knockout in the opening round, earning himself a "Performance of the Night" bonus.
A win over Alves would be the biggest win for Mein, who is now 3-1 in the UFC (29-9 overall).
Meanwhile, Alves will be looking for his second win in a row after defeating Seth Baczynski at UFC on FOX 11, following a two-year layoff that was plagued with injuries.
Alves (20-9) looked outstanding over the three-round contest and earned a "Fight of the Night" bonus in his return.
A win over Mein would be Alves first two-fight win streak since winning six straight before losing his lone UFC title fight to former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 100.
The upcoming welterweight clash between Mein and Alves will join the lineup featuring a headliner between former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz (more on that fight here).
