Conor McGregor will head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next weekend (Sat., Oct. 25, 2014) to catch the UFC 179 main event fight between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight titleholder Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes (details).
That's because "Notorious" is expected to face the champion sometime next year.
But an impatient McGregor doesn't want to wait around so long to fight again and says because Aldo's body is so weak and Mendes is so short (not that height has anything to do with recovery time), he wants to fight once more before vying for the title, per his choice.
At least that's what he claimed he'll do during this recent Twitter rant in which he also advised all "scared" contenders to surrender their women to him and kiss his toes.
I am looking forward to going to Brazil this week to see the Number 1 contender fight between Aldo and Mendes. Who gets to face the KING?— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 15, 2014
Because Aldo's body is weak and Mendes is 2foot nothing, they will not be ready to challenge me for the throne until mid next year.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 15, 2014
Myself, Uncle Frank and the rest of La Familia are in the process of selecting another victim to eliminate in the meantime.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 15, 2014
You've 24hrs to come forward and surrender your woman and all your belongings or you'll be hunted down and your head placed in my collection— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 15, 2014
If that truly is the case and McGregor is planning on fighting once more to collect another fat check instead of waiting, finding a suitable challenge for him won't be a problem.
Conor could be paired up against the winner of the upcoming 145-pound showdown between Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson, which is set to headline UFC Fight Night 57 on Nov. 22, 2014 in Austin, Texas.
Both of those men have made it no secret that they want a shot at the belt, too, so facing McGregor and beating him would be a fast track to a championship fight.
Then again, "Notorious" could just be trolling and will in fact hold out for his title shot.
