Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today released the drug test results for UFC 178, which took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., Sept. 27, 2014.
And don't look now, but Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) finally has some good news to enjoy on the illegal / banned substances front.
Results from the pre- and post-fight drug tests, which include performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) such as steroids and drugs of abuse like cocaine and marijuana, among others, all returned negative for the entire pay-per-view (PPV) card, according to MMAJunkie.com.
In addition, main event participants, Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso, were both subject to more enhanced blood testing, which also came back clean.
UFC 178 featured Johnson retaining his 125-pound world title, submitting an over-matched Cariaso in round two. In other action, Conor McGregor finished Dustin Poirier in the first round of their featherweight showcase, while Donald Cerrone stopped the Eddie Alvarez hype train before it could ever even get started inside the Octagon.
