Ryan Ford vs. Jake Shields staredown pic from WSOF 14 weigh ins in Edmonton

Rob Trudeau for WSOF

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight number one contender, Jake Shields, will return to the fight game against Ryan Ford in the main event of World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 14, which takes place tomorrow night (Sat., Oct. 11, 2014) at Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Earlier today, they squared off at the WSOF 14 weigh in event (see above).

Shields (29-7-1, 1 NC) was cut from UFC after Hector Lombard dominated him at UFC 171 back in March. While it was the first loss in nearly three years for the former Strikeforce middleweight champion, ZUFFA decided it had seen enough and sent the decorated grappler on his way.

Time for a fresh start.

Waiting for him will be Ford (22-4), who is the winner of six straight. But more importantly, the "Real Deal" has finished 20 opponents in 22 wins. 12 by way of knockout/technical knockout and eight by submission. Shields is going to have his hands full.
