"Countdown" to UFC 169 lit up the airwaves last night (Sun., Jan. 26, 2014) on FOX Sports 1 to help promote the upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for this Saturday night (Feb. 1) at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is hoping to capitalize on the hype surrounding Super Bowl weekend by hosting an event the night before (we hope), asking Renan Barao and Urijah Faber to dazzle the mixed martial arts (MMA) world in their 135-pound title fight.
That's not all.
In the co-main event of the evening, 145-pound kingpin Jose Aldo finally gives Ricardo Lamas his long-desired featherweight title shot, while Alistair Overeem tries to stay employed at the expense of Frank Mir in heavyweight main card action.
