They said it would never happen.
Eddie Bravo and Royler Gracie are finally going to lock up for a second time, nearly a decade after Bravo turned the jiu-jitsu world on its head with a shocking upset submission win (watch it) over the previously unbeaten Gracie -- son of Helio Gracie -- at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) grappling tournament in 2003.
When and where?
In the headlining act of Metamoris 3, which takes place inside the Peterson Automotive Museum (Special Event Deck) in Los Angeles, California, on March 29, 2014. The event will be commentated by UFC analyst Kenny Florian and jiu-jitsu legend Jeff Glover.
No points. Submission only.
Bravo and Gracie flirted with a second go-round at the 2011 ADCC event in Nottingham; however, terms could not be reached and Gracie instead challenged Bravo to a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight in Brazil (yes, really). Not surprisingly, the contest never came to fruition.
Not that it matters.
The only place fans want to see this score settled is on the mats and barring any unforeseen injuries, we may get our wish in just over two months. Tickets for Metamoris 3 go on sale this Friday (Jan. 24) and the event will be streamed live on Metamoris.com.
