Longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran and former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 11 contestant Kyacey Uscola is facing up to 13 years in prison, after a jury found the 32-year-old fighter guilty of domestic violence following a June 15, 2013 attack on the mother of his child.
The victim suffered "a life-threatening laceration to her pancreas, eight broken ribs, a punctured lung, an orbital fracture and two lumbar fractures," according to KXTV, and Uscola will be sentenced by Sacramento Superior Court on Feb. 14, 2014.
Former team mate and current UFC bantamweight number one contender Urijah Faber talks to ABC News 10:
"To have a guy come clean his life up and to end like this is pretty tragic. He said 'hey, I'm messing up. I want to get my head straight,' and he knows we run a clean operation here. He came in; he seemed to be on track for a little bit. But I think he has those demons. It was really heartbreaking to hear. Kyacey has to be a man for what he's done."
He was cut from Team Alpha Male following an arrest for domestic violence in 2011.
Uscola gained notoriety after wild dogs bit him on the penis (seriously), as well as for competing on Team Ortiz during his 2010 run on the combat sports reality show. "Ice Cold" was bounced from the competition in episode eight in his wild card fight against Kris McCray (recap here) and eventually returned to the regional circuit.
Where he's currently 21-24 overall and riding an eight-fight losing streak.
Stay tuned for more updates to this unfortunate news following Uscola's sentencing next month in Sacramento.
