The Inaugural Motivation Monday

So, Maniacs, the first full week of 2014 is over. I'm sure that in the history of Mania, there has been a Motivation Monday series of threads, but it's not here now, so here you go. I'd like to make it weekly, like our FFT and Humpday Whine. As caustic as you guys can be, you're also a bunch of sentimental softies, so I'm sure more than a few of you have a story, a speech, an experience that you could use for a future installment to motivate us through the week until our next fix.

At any rate, how are those resolutions coming? I'm sure some of you have already given up, cuz' "Fuck it", right? "As long as I get it by the end of the year, it still counts." Why wait? Don't procrastinate. Put down that burger and go for a run. Just make sure you get the right shoes (Hint: Don't go to Walmart) and don't overdo it, cuz shin splints suck. Put down the video game controller and pick up that guitar. Stop watching tv and go join a ju jitsu class. Or muay thai, or mma or boxing.

Point is, no one ever accomplished anything by sitting on your ass. Unless you're a writer - with exception to Ernest Hemingway, as he liked to stand while he wrote. But you get my meaning. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. Go hard in the paint. And no matter how many times you fail, pick yourself back up and go for it again.

Also, part of the reason I wanted to do this Fanpost was to be able to share this video with you. It's probably the greatest pre-game speech delivered by any coach ever. It's a few years old, so I'm sure that some of you have already seen it - though I'm sure some of you haven't, so here you go. As you'll notice from the boombox behind the coach, the music isn't added after the fact. It's there playing in the locker room as the coach speaks.
