"I don't have any preferences. My dream is to get the belt, but I believe Jon Jones will win. And I hope Jones wins because he has a bigger name and he's the champion for a long time. I have to come here prepared to beat him. I have the knockout power to do it. If my hand lands, he will go down."
- It has now been confirmed by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White that Glover Teixeira will receive a Light Heavyweight title shot against the winner of the Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson showdown on Sat., Sept. 21, 2013, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Teixeira earned the chance by knocking out Ryan Bader in the main event of last night's UFC Fight Night 28 show on Fox Sports 1 in Brazil (watch video highlights here). And, as you can read above in a quote from the post-fight press conference, the Brazilian (still) hopes "Bones" is the man he'll square off against sometime later this year or possibly early next year. Why? Bigger name, more money, more glory. You know, all the perks these fellas want out of the fight game. The timing lines up nicely so that barring any major injury, Teixeira vs. Jones/Gustafsson could kick off 2014 with a bang. Or perhaps even Super Bowl weekend? Stay tuned for that, but what's the hot match-up you Maniacs are hoping for?
