Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced the locale for its latest and greatest FOX card following an already eventful 2013. The lucky city is Sacramento, California, and UFC on FOX 9 will take place in the recently-renamed Sleep Train Arena (previously Arco Arena) on Sat., Dec. 14, 2013.
Sacramento Bee announced the news on Wednesday.
Northern California is a hub of mixed martial arts (MMA) talent and while no fights are currently official for the upcoming card, a plethora of hometown fighters are available. Namely, Urijah Faber, who has been a staple of "Golden State" competition dating back to the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) days.
UFC hasn't held a show in Sacramento since July 2007, when UFC 73 featured a championship bout between then-middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva taking on Nate Marquardt, while Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans battled to a light heavyweight draw.
