Although it was never expressly stated by promotion President Dana White, both Ronaldo Souza and Yushin Okami made plans to ask for a middleweight title shot assuming they emerged victorious in their bout at tonight's (Wed., Sept. 4, 2013) UFC Fight Night 28: "Teixeira vs. Bader" event in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Well, "Jacare" may very well have earned himself a shot at that 185-pound belt once Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman are done fighting over it.
He did so by absolutely blasting Okami in the first round, unloading a series of punches on him that had "Thunder" like a turtle in the corner. He survived, though, but that only led to his standing and being forced to exchange with Souza.
And that was the end.
Another few hard shots and just like that, the Brazilian has a legitimate claim to a crack at the division crown. Any of you Maniacs want to see him get his chance?
