Seeing as tonight's (Wed., Sept. 4, 2013) UFC Fight Night 28: "Teixeira vs. Bader" event on Fox Sports 1 took place at the Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, it only makes sense that competitors from TUF: Brazil were on the card. Indeed, Francisco Trinaldo, who competed on that season but lost in his first bout after getting in the house, took on Piotr Hallmann in a lightweight battle.
Trinaldo was impressive, unleashing a series of kicks to the body and head that had Hallmann falling backwards and staggering around the cage trying to come up with an answer for it. Once he hit the mat thanks to yet another hard shot, his new offensive strategy became clear.
Aggression.
That's the route he took once he recovered, though, he struggled to put together combinations with any real effectiveness. Plus, Trinaldo was doing a lot of damage each time he landed clean and that was happening far too often.
That's without mentioning the late takdown (FTW) to end round one.
The second round was grappling heavy and featured Hallmann turning the tide in his favor by working a takedown and then shocking everyone when he grabbed an arm from side control and cranked until Trinaldo was forced to tap lest he get his arm snapped like a twig.
