Pic: UFC Removes Yushin Okami From Middleweight Rankings, Lists Just Top 9 Fighters
And then there were nine! Yushin Okami, the No. 6-ranked Middleweight fighter on UFC's roster up until this past weekend, is no longer featured on the promotion's Top 9 Top 10 list (view it here). Okami was recently cut after getting knocked out by Ronaldo Souza earlier this month. UFC President Dana White claimed his role of divisional "gatekeeper" forced his surprise exit, even though "Thunder" compiled a record of 13-5 in the Octagon during a seven-year tenure. With Okami removed from the rankings, Luke Rockhold, Francis Carmont, Costa Philippou and Chael Sonnen are suddenly better than they were yesterday. Meanwhile, Alessio Sakara (6-7-1 in UFC) prepares to battle Magnus Cedenblad at UFC Fight Night 30 later this month. Makes imperfect sense.
