Former WEC Bantamweight champion Miguel Torres' father robbed at gun point, cash reward for information

Miguel Torres is offering a cash reward for any information that leads to the apprehension of the man who robbed his father at gun point.

Paul Abell-US PRESSWIRE

The past few years haven't been too kind to former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres. Once considered one of the top pound-for-pound fighters on the planet during his title reign, he now finds himself fighting to stay relevant in the current mixed martial arts (MMA) landscape.

Torres' career within the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was largely a disappointment, going 2-3 in the Octagon. To make matters worse, he was also released for making a 'rape van' comment on Twitter which ended up being an 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' reference, though he was quickly re-signed after an apology.

Lately though, he's been sitting on the sidelines after suffering a split decision loss to Marlon Moraes at World Series of Fighting's first event. His signing was considered a coup for the start up promotion, as he is still one of the top bantamweight fighters outside of the UFC.

Unfortunately, his string of bad luck seems to be continuing as his father was robbed at gun point last night (Sept. 27, 2013). The bantamweight posted about it on his Facebook page.

To whoever robbed my dad at gunpoint tonight while he was running at the track in the Harbor, if I find out who you are I'm going to beat the living fuck out of you till I get pulled off. Anyone with information on who this perpetrator was, I'm offering a cash reward. No one fucks with my family.

This has got to be a terrifying experience for Torres. In speaking with him in the past, I know how important family is to him. And while I don't condone beating the 'living fuck' out of someone, I totally understand his state of mind at the moment.

He is offering a cash reward, so if you have any information about the robbery, contact him on Facebook or on Twitter.
