'Heartbroken' Tim Kennedy working hard to find replacement for Lyoto Machida at Fight for the Troops 3

With Lyoto Machida filling in for a sidelined Michael Bisping, Tim Kennedy is now left without an opponent for Fight for the Troops 3. Kennedy has decided to be pro-active in finding a new opponent by talking trash on Twitter.

USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday night (Sept. 27, 2013), news broke that Michael Bisping was forced to pull out of his upcoming bout with Mark Munoz due to a serious eye injury. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) needed to find a suitable replacement and pulled Lyoto Machida from his fight with Tim Kennedy at Fight for the Troops 3 to save the Manchester event.

This left Kennedy without an opponent and Fight for the Troops 3 without a main event. Fight for the Troops has historically been the UFC's way of saying 'thank you' to the men and women who serve in the military and put their lives on the line for the United States. It has also been used to help raise money for the Fallen Heroes fund.

This card means the world to Kennedy as he is a military veteran who has helped veterans through work with various charitable organizations, so getting pulled from the card just isn't an option. Instead, Kennedy went on the offensive last night on twitter trying to set up his own bout for the November card, calling out everyone in the UFC's middleweight division.

And my personal favorite just because of the rumors that Mauricio Rua hasn't exactly been putting in the necessary time in the gym to stay at a high level. Legitimate great burn by Kennedy.

Gotta give Kennedy credit. He is being proactive in his attempts to find a new fight. The big issue though is that there just aren't a lot of options at the moment. Most of the top fighters are currently booked up or just fought. The only real available options are Costa Philippou and Francis Carmont, though outside shot is a quick return for Yushin Okami.

Fight for the Troops 3 takes place at Fort Campbell on Nov. 6.
