Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Fox Sports 1 on Oct. 9, 2013, live from Ginasio Jose Correa in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Headlined by Demian Maia facing Jake Shields in Welterweight action, this could be the event that catapults the former into 170-pound title contention should he win impressively.
Maia and Shields are two of the best grapplers in the division, so this bout will either be an incredible display of ground skills or two submission artists completely avoiding the ground.
The co-main event features young Brazilian Welterweight upstart, Erick Silva, looking to continue his climb up the divisional ladder when he faces Dong Hyun Kim. Despite his potential, Silva has been unable to put together a winning streak inside the Octagon.
The rest of the card is rounded out by some interesting stylistic mixed martial arts (MMA) match ups that feature some of the best young talent in the UFC.
