Renan Barao badly wants to fight Dominick Cruz, you know, just to get rid of that stinking Interim bantamweight championship title in favor of the real one "The Dominator" is still lugging around despite being injured for some two years running. To do that, he had to vanquish the latest challenger to said Interim belt, who came in the form of one Eddie Wineland in the co-main event of last night's (Sat., Sept. 21, 2013) UFC 165: "Jones vs. Gustafsson" pay-per-view (PPV) from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Vanquish him he did.
The Brazilian badass used a spinning back kick to plant the American challenger, following it up with an onslaught of punches that were just damaging enough that the referee felt the bout should be stopped.
And so it was.
UFC President Dana White has already made it clear that Barao will fight Cruz next, if he wants to wait for that. If not, he's free to take a fight in the meantime, and let's hope that happens sooner rather than later because we could certainly use more finishes like this.
