It's time to find out if Matt Brown (18-11) is indeed for real.
The former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) has been on what can only be called an "Immortal" tear throughout the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight ranks, winning six straight fights and brutally knocking out five of his victims in the process.
But is he championship material?
What better way to prove it than by defeating the former interim champion, which is what UFC matchmaker Joe Silva likely had in mind when he paired him off against Carlos Condit at the upcoming UFC on FOX 9 event, scheduled for Dec. 14, 2013 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
FOX Sports announced the booking earlier today.
After a string of five consecutive victories, Condit (29-7) was upended by reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre last Novmeber, only to go down 0-2 after a unanimous decision loss to top contender Johny Hendricks in his rebound fight. Unfazed, "The Natural Born Killer" returned to the win column just last month by stopping Martin Kampmann in Indianapolis.
This is going to be a helluva fight.
UFC on FOX 9 will be headlined by a lightweight championship title fight, as newly-crowned 155-pound kingpin Anthony Pettis defends against former Strikeforce straphanger Josh Thomson. In addition, Urijah Faber will throw hands opposite bantamweight badass Michael McDonald.
