Mayweather vs Canelo video: Breaking down controversial majority decision

SBNation's Luke Thomas breaks down the judging controversy from the Floyd Mayweather vs Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez main event.

Last night's (Sept. 14, 2013) bout between Floyd 'Money' Mayweather and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada lived up to the hype. It also ended in controversy as judge CJ Ross scored the bout 114-114, which resulted in a Majority Decision for Mayweather.

The inexplicable scorecard showed the controversial side of combat sports, where a judge has the ability to dictate the outcome of a bout where the two combatants gave their all. This isn't the first time that Ross has been the center of controversy either.

Last year she turned in a 115-113 score card in favor of Timothy Bradley when he fought Manny Pacquiao. Despite cries for an investigation from fans and the media, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) backed their official. It's insane to think that after such a controversial score card, she got the call to be a judge in arguably the biggest fight of the past three years.

SBNation's Luke Thomas was on hand for the pay-per-view (PPV) bout and discussed the controversial decision in the video above.
