Brazil vs. Australia?
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is putting former light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua back in action before year's end when he takes on slugger from "Down Under," James Te Huna, at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 33 event, which goes down on Dec. 7, 2013 from Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia, on FOX Sports 1.
That's according to the gang over at Daily Telegraph.
Rua (21-8) is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time in his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career and is probably in a big hurry to erase the memory of his submission loss to Chael Sonnen, which took place at the UFC Fight Night 26 event just last month in Boston.
Prior to surrendering to "The American Gangster," the former PRIDE fighter was outpointed by Alexander Gustafsson.
Like "Shogun," Te Huna (16-6) was also choked out in the opening frame his last time out, after attempting to slug it out with 205-pound rising star Glover Teixeira. The UFC 160 loss was just the second of his career while operating under the ZUFFA umbrella and snapped a four-fight winning streak.
Turning away Rua could get him to the next level.
UFC Fight Night 33: "Hunt vs. Bigfoot" will feature a titanic heavyweight tilt pitting former K-1 killer Mark Hunt against Brazilian Behemoth Antonio Silva, while light heavyweight "Hippo," Anthony Perosh, is also expected to compete (more on that here).
