Leave it up to two Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists to deliver the "Knockout of the Night" bonus-winning performance.
That's exactly what happened when Anthony Perosh and Vinny Magalhaes collided in the featured UFC 163 "Prelims" mixed martial arts (MMA) match last night (Sat., Aug. 3, 2013) at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Magalhaes, competing in front of a hometown crowd, was heavily favored over the 40-year-old Aussie. Then he ate a monstrous "Hippo" right hand seconds into the Light Heavyweight tilt, buckling his knees and sending him crashing to the canvas. Perosh followed him to the floor and uncorked several head bouncers, which he explained were actually bringing the sleeping Brazilian back to life.
Magalhaes, however, was nowhere near awake, rescued by the referee after just 14 seconds of over confident work. He has now lost two straight inside the Octagon, while Perosh -- who didn't seem too surprised with finish in his post-fight interview -- has won four of his last five UFC appearances.
Who says you can't teach an old dingo new tricks?
