On September 4, 2013, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Belo Horizonte, Brazil for UFC Fight Night 28 at the Mineirinho Arena. Headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira, it's stacked card featuring some of the best Brazilian talent on the UFC roster.
One of the more anticipated bouts was between TUF: Brazil veteran, Hugo Viana, and former EliteXC bantamweight champion, Wilson Reis. Viana was originally expected to face Johnny Bedford, but Bedford was forced from the bout due to an injury.
Reis stepped up on short notice in order to make his UFC debut. Reis picked up four straight wins on the regional circuit following a disappointing run in Bellator. His last win was against Owen Roddy at Cage Warriors 50 in Glasgow, Scotland.
MMAMania.com learned on Friday morning (August 30, 2013) from sources close to Reis' camp that the bout has been cancelled as Viana suffered an injury leading up to the fight. The bout was expected to headline the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card.
