UFC Fight Night 27 results: Kelvin Gastelum chokes out Brian Melancon

New, comments

Well, that was quick. Kelvin Gastelum made short work of Brian Melancon, submitting him in the first round of their welterweight bout at tonight's (Aug. 28, 2013) UFC Fight Night 27 event in Indianapolis.

USA TODAY Sports

Kelvin Gastelum returned to the cage tonight (Wed., Aug. 28, 2013) to take on late replacement Brian Melancon on the main card of the UFC Fight Night 27: "Condit vs. Kampmann 2" Fox Sports 1 event in Indianapolis, Indiana. Melancon was stepping in for Paulo Thiago.

Big mistake.

That's because Gastelum made short work of his foe, landing a hard uppercut that put Melancon down and had him hurt badly. He was hurt badly enough, in fact, that Gastelum immediately locked in a rear-naked choke that got a tap in short order.

Yeah, that'll do sir.

Are we looking at the next big player in the 170-pound division?
